FRIENDS AND SNAIL MAIL

I am the luckiest girl to have such sweet and thoughtful friends.  I am so sad for anyone who doesn't have a sassy Holly and hilarious Janie in your life.  They are wonderful and true friends if I've ever seen them. This week I got a lovely and big surprise in the mail as I found a large brown paper package tied up with string-with a nice reference to the sound of music stuffed in my mail box. I didn't know if I was going to be able to even get the package out at first. The thought of having to open the package in the mail box and leave the box itself inside made me laugh. But with skill and patience I managed to wiggle it out. With items from Canada, France, Hawaii and a local T&T store in Calgary, I was excited to find the cutest gifts and letters ever imaginable. And keep in mind, this was supposed to be delivered while I was in the states still- hence the Canadian gifts, but with a late send off it was still much MUCHO MUCH MUY MUCHONESS appreciated.
I am very blessed.

A Little Humour

So because one of my favourite things of all time ever and always is laughing, and good stories, I thought I would share a couple funny/awkward/random/ridiculous stories and odds and ends. Right here.
  1. The other day on tumblr (a really interesting type of blogging website- Check mine out here: http://canadianpeach.tumblr.com/ and http://fiddledeedear.tumblr.com/) I came across a sentence someone shared that basically has summed up my summer fashion extremely well. In my case at least. It said:
"summertime: how many times can i wear the same shorts before anyone notices"- pixahl
Now since being home from my freshman year, I quickly realized while going through my shorts that many would no longer reside in the comforts of my wardrobe due to the wonderfully imposing freshman fifteen.  I bought a new pair of shorts and basically between those, running shorts and overall shorts, what else do I really need anyways right?! So yes, this sentence is extremely relateable, and you know what? YOLO. HATERS GON' HATE. GATERS GON' GATE.
  2.  I got a part-time job working in retail for the summer. Now, a job is a job, and I am very grateful that I found one, and that the people I work with are good, and that I am treated well. But the music playlist designed for 40+ year old women sometimes drives me insane I'll admit. Insane as in, on-the-verge-of-foaming-at-the-mouth-needs-a-straight-jacket! Okay, not quite. But the song "It's a Women's World" by Cher at least twice during my four hour shift everyday is a little excessive and quite frankly, frightening.  ANYWHO. So these two guys- (kinda cute for those who care) were working one aisle down from me and another coworker and backstreet boys comes on. I'm so thrilled it's not another 1/5 of the playlist Michael Buble songs or Cher and as I'm stocking shelves, I hear one of the boys singing along, and then the other joins in. It was fab. and hilarious. Just because it was so silly and usually when you're working very early shifts there is not too much silliness/communication/consciousness in general! let alone singing along audibly to music. I casually commented (in my kinda trying to keep my cool way) Nice Singing! Next thing I know I hear one say to the other "Why do we even work here? We should start a band!" You have to understand this is all in the spirit of joking around and silliness. Next thing I know, they said I'm in. I didn't even ask. They want me. ;) So I BASICALLY HAVE FRIENDS AT WORK. SCORE.
  3. Okay this is actually from a while ago but I thought I would finally share the donut-guy story.
As written when I originally told the story to my friend back in November.
So last weekend, I guess now it's more like two weeks ago? I'm not actually too sure. This constant state of studying makes my sense of time go down the drain. Anyways. So Saturday morning I had this crazy dream where I had to use my intensively trained and mastered ninja skills to assault a man who was trying to attack my group of friends, and it was really upsetting because I really beat him up and it was pretty scary. Anyways so not wanting to go back to that crazy dream, i decided to go to the commons- meal plan cafeteria place where I eat all the time because it's like an open buffet with 5 restaurants within. Anywho so I go with my friend Sara and I'm eating like crazy because I really burned some calories in my ninja fighting and I am all like "ugh, I'm still hungry but I don't know what I want to eat" and my friend's all like "donuts!" And I am all like "nahh" - they are not Tim Horton's donuts so why waste my time if they're not that good? - but she convinced me so I go to get us each a donut and put the first one carefully on the plate. Next one for me and as I do so I accidentally drop my plate and it smashes all over and my donut goes flying on the ground. A worker comes to clean up and I apologize profusely before walking back to the table to deliver Sara her donut. I pass her the desert and say "I smashed my donut *with a crazed look on my face* I have to get a new one!" and turn hurriedly and take two steps to smash into someone. I seriously could of knocked this guy over but somehow he manages to stand his ground. I don't know how. It seemed to me that this guy who turns out to be way cute, caught me practically! Technically. Okay fine, not really, but it's a nice thought. My chin was kind of caught on his shoulder so...ANYWHO. I apologize profusely again before turning and walking, his girlfriend is walking towards him laughing and by now I'm just so determined at this point to get that donut. And so I walk back over and promise to the worker cleaning up my broken plate I won't drop this one. Miraculously I didn't and ended up going back and sitting down and inhaling it. and there is Sara laughing so hard because it looked really painful apparently when I full on ran into that guy. So that's my story. Donuts and running into people. It's unfortunately beginning to be a habit...

Yeah. So there it is folks. And frequently after the run in, I saw this boy literally everywhere. EVERYWHERE

So now I am drawing a blank on my awkward life stories, but I promise you they are abundant!

Anyways, life is great, the food is superb, and the work is work ;)
